PROGRAM I

A SEASON OPENING OF CLASSIC ELEGANCE AND

NEO-CLASSICAL ENCHANTMENT

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida opens its 2025-2026 season with a dazzling program that celebrates the richness of classical and neoclassical ballet, placing the spotlight on the triumphant return of Firebird.

Set to Stravinsky's electrifying score, Firebird tells the mythical tale of a magical creature who helps a heroic prince defeat the evil sorcerer Katscheii and free a princess from his spell. Firebird, choreographed by Vladimir Issaev, first premiered for South Florida audiences back in 2000. 25 years later, with breathtaking costumes by Jorge Gallardo, fantastical new sets by Jim Hammond, and enchanting backdrops by Elena Bondarenko, this production brings a vibrant fairy tale world to life, enhanced by special effects and Issaev's powerful choreography

The evening continues with Glinka Suite Fantastique, a neoclassical jewel by Issaev for three men and six women, designed to showcase the dancers’ exquisite technique and musicality.

Audiences will also be treated to the elegant Talisman Pas de Deux, a classical showpiece from the grand ballet tradition. Set in mythological India, this romantic work highlights the dramatic tension between divine duty and human desire.

The program concludes with Vicente Nebrada’s masterful Double Clef (Doble Corchea), a dynamic ensemble ballet for 13 couples, each representing a musical instrument or section of an orchestra. Set to the music of Benjamin Britten, the ballet becomes a visual symphony where movement, rhythm, and personality dance in perfect harmony.

Program I is a celebration of storytelling, precision, and artistic passion that sets the stage for a powerful season ahead.
